Emel & Tom’s Turkish fusion wedding at the Great Lodge, Braintree, was an amazing day filled with love and happiness, celebrated by their nearest and dearest. This was my first time as a Great Lodge wedding photographer, and my third time shooting a Turkish wedding. I love photographing different cultures, and especially love Turkish weddings with all their traditions. Having spoken to Emel and Tom at their pre-wedding shoot and to the run up of the wedding, I knew their wedding day was going to be all about the people and music. Emel and Tom are both in the same choir, where they met and where Tom played the drums too, so they had some musical surprise’s for their guests lined up. I knew it was going to be an amazing day, and it truly was.
Emel and Tom chose the Great Lodge, a beautiful family run rural estate situated in North West Essex for their Turkish fusion wedding celebration. Its surrounded by gorgeous landscaped gardens, vineyards and woodlands, and it was the perfect choice.
My day started off with Emel’s bridal preps, along with all her bridesmaids around her, and you could feel the amazing vibe around the whole place. Tom arrived a couple of hours later with his groomsmen, all in high spirits too, and started to get ready. Then it was onto their outdoor wedding ceremony, which was full of laughter, emotions, hugs, kisses, and singing from the choir Emel and Tom belong too.
Once the ceremony was over, Emel & Tom surprised everyone with the Back Chat Brass for their confetti exit. They are an amazing collective of brass players, and played throughout the cocktail hour which had people dancing too.
After the cocktail hour, everyone went inside the barn, whilst I took Emel and Tom away for some portraits around the grounds. Emel & Tom made a traditional Turkish entrance, and it was onto surprise number 2, where Tom took over the drums and played them whilst Emel and her bridal party danced around. After their roaring entrance it was onto a night full of speeches, good food, plenty of dancing, dancing and of course some Turkish traditions with pot smashing and money throwing. Just an amazing night.
There were many brilliant moments during Emel and Tom’s wedding, but one of my favourites, was when Emel surprised Tom by singing a song to him. Tom stood in awe watching, and you could see so much love and pride in his eye’s. I live for capturing moments like this, they make weddings so special to document.
Massive congratulations to Emel & Tom, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your day, it was absolutely brilliant!
