And just like that, in a blink of an eye my 2018 wedding photography season is over. And just like every year, it’s time for me to post a round-up of some of my personal favourites!
I always love looking back at the images I’ve created over the year just gone, re-living the moments I’ve captured for my couples. It reminds me not only of the emotion, the joy, the happiness, the tears, but it also how lucky I am to be doing this crazy thing I get to call a job. I am incredibly lucky to meet all the couples I get to shoot, and the other wonderful people they introduce me to. You are warm, caring, genuinely awesome folk that I now get to call my friends.
Making a round-up of the year’s best images, also shows me how I’m evolving as a photographer. It’s only in doing this that I get clear sense of the direction I’m heading in, and the things that are most important to me when documenting my couples. Even though every year feels different, and every shot feels different, I continue to find that – year-on-year – the moments that really matter to me are those that capture pure love and joy. The images that show families being forged together into something new and bigger are always the ones that I feel the strongest connection to.
From India to Italy
I’ve been lucky enough to go on a few wedding photography adventures this year too. They started with a trip to India to photograph a wedding in Delhi, then two couples sessions in Mumbai not long after. As usual I’ve been up and down the UK, but before the year was out I was asked to shoot a weddings in Tuscany & Amalfi too, a very different pace to India! It’s been a rich and rewarding year in that sense, and every wedding has been an incredible honour to shoot. I feel very fortunate to have been asked to document them.
So I’d like to say a huge thank you to all my clients for letting me witness your love and that of your family and friends, and trusting me to document your special day.
As ever I can’t believe I get to spend my life working as a London wedding photographer. To be awarded that responsibility time and again, to hold those memories in my hands, inspires me to be the absolute best that I can be. Every single time.
It’s always hard deciding which images to leave out of my round-up, and this year was no exception. But after lots of head scratching, I’ve finally nailed it. So here are my best wedding photos from the 2018 photography season. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Bring on 2019!
