Chinese Wedding Photographer | Singapore Wedding
When Sarah and Brian first asked me to photograph their Chinese wedding in Singapore, I couldn’t contain my excitement. I’ve always wanted to visit Singapore, but never had the chance, and when they asked me to document their wedding, it was a dream come true! I first met Sarah and Brian for their Iceland pre-wedding shoot earlier in September, which was an equally incredible experience as we chased the sun and got to witness the Northern Lights, not once but twice whilst we were there.
In Singapore, I met Brian and Sarah a couple of days before their wedding, for a catch up, dinner and some casual night portraits around Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Gardens By The Bay and China Town, in the city. Wandering around this city at night, you couldn’t help but fall in love with it, the mix of skyscrapers, condo’s, old shop-houses and hidden temples mixed into it all, it’s one of my favourite cities in the world.
The wedding day was a whirlwind, I arrived at Sarah’s house at 5am to document her getting ready, along with her friends who were there to help out with flowers and get the games ready for Brian. Sarah’s friends had organised some games, before he was allowed to enter her home, and meet her for the first time on her wedding day, the games were super fun to photograph, but I have a feeling that Sarah’s friends went easy on the boys.
Following the games and Brian meeting Sarah, it was time to head back to Brian’s house for the first of the tea ceremonies, before heading to back to Sarah’s house for their ceremony. I love witnessing these old Chinese traditions, and seeing everyone pay their respects to their elders during the ceremonies.
After the Chinese tea ceremonies we headed to the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where Sarah changed back into her white wedding gown. The Grand Hyatt in Singapore, was the perfect choice for Sarah and Brian’s evening banquet and solemnisation ceremony.
Sarah & Brian are massive foodies and wonderfully unique humans, who are the best of friends and deeply in love. I don’t think there is nothing in this universe that Brian wouldn’t do for Sarah, it was very clear to see. They both wanted something different from the traditional wedding photographer, and it was an honour to be chosen by them to capture their elegant wedding celebrations in Singapore. Thank you so much Sarah and Brian for giving me this wonderful experience and allowing me to document your day, congratulations to you both, and I hope we get to eat food together one day in another part of the world.
Thank you so much to my good friend Adam Johnson for coming along with me, an incredible photographer, one of the founder’s of NineDots, and just an awesome person to hang with. I’m looking forward to more adventure’s this year dude!
