Samy and Priyesh’s destination wedding in Italy, was a crazy three day affair. They wanted everyone to experience both cultures, so of course a three day celebration, was in order consisting of two weddings, two receptions, and two pre-wedding events. It truly was a celebration of gigantic proportions, i’m not even sure where to begin describing this wedding in words, let alone photo’s, so much so that it even has to fit over two blog posts.
The first day, was a traditional Italian church ceremony, held in Samy’s hometown church San Giovanni Battista, Roccapiemonte. Samy got ready at her home in Roccapiemonte, when we got there she was just having the finishing touches to her make up done. Samy’s mum, had always dreamt of doing her daughter’s hair on her wedding day, her dream came true. Once Samy was ready, and her bouquet delivered by Priyesh’s sister, we were on our way to the church.
Outside, the church the whole town turned up to greet Samy on her way in, it was crazy, I had never seen anything like it. As Samy’s mum, owned a salon nearby for over 35yrs, meant that they pretty much knew everyone.
The church ceremony, was beautiful, the priest was so happy and smiley throughout, and made everyone feel so uplifted. Samy’s friend’s, had to translate the service, so everyone could understand, and they did a brilliant job of it, at this wedding and at the Hindu wedding too (More on the Hindu wedding later).
Once the ceremony was over, it was onto the Savoy Beach Hotel in Paestum, for the reception, for an Italian 8 course feast, some brilliant traditional Italian band music and dancing!
Samy and Priyesh, are two best friends, that love to laugh, have a lot of fun together and want everyone around them to have as much fun if not more. These are the type of people I love to photograph, two people in love. I’ve said it many time’s before, but more than anything else, more than the location, more than the details, it’s you, the family and friends around you, that makes for an amazing wedding, and in turn brilliant and honest photo’s.
Right enough of me rambling along, here are some of my favourite photo’s from Samy and Priyesh’s Italian wedding:
I had an amazing time shooting in Italy, I love destination weddings, they’re always amazing to document and its brilliant to get to know so many new people. If you’re planning on having a wedding abroad, or in the UK then please get in touch, I’d love to hear all about it and have the opportunity to photograph your wedding.
