The photos Rahul took of our wedding are amazing – there are so many of them, each beautiful. He’s truly an artist.
It’s hard to know where even to begin talking about Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding at the beautiful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London. It was my first time shooting a Jewish wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, and I hope it won’t be my last wedding there at this truly stunning hotel. The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel has become one of my favourite wedding venues in London, the gothic metal work, wall designs, the grand staircase (which the Spice Girls used for their ‘Wannabe’ music video) and gold leaf ceilings make this hotel ultra-glamorous and the perfect backdrop to Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding.
I started my day by heading to Sam’s room to capture her and her bridesmaids getting ready before heading one floor up to document Jay and his groomsmen preparing for the Tisch ceremony.
After the Tisch, it was on to the Bedeken, where Sam patiently waited for Jay to arrive to unveil her. This is the first time Sam and Jay would see each other with just their closest family around to witness this beautiful ceremony which was full of emotion. After the Bedeken, Jay made his entrance along with his parents into the Chuppah, just before Sam walked down the aisle with her parents beside her. After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the drinks reception whilst I stole Sam and Jay for a few moments to make some portraits around the wonderful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, before they made their grand entrance into their wedding reception.
What can I say about the reception, man alive it was an outright raucous reception. When you bring in one of the best band’s in London in my opinion The Function Band, you know things are going to get crazy and they absolutely did, in all the best ways. From the rowdy Israeli dancing, to the epic party it was just one of the best nights i’ve ever witnessed and had the pleasure to photograph. One of the highlights from their reception was Sam’s speech which was excellent, but Jay stole the night with his brilliantly hilarious and sentimental speech (sorry Sam!).
Sam found me through a Jewish wedding blog ’Smashing The Glass’ and i’m so glad she did. It was such an honour to shoot their wedding, an absolutely incredible day filled with love, happiness, laughter and pure honest moments. The night ended with Sam and Jay on stage, singing their hearts out, hands in the air – the perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you Sam and Jay for choosing me to be your wedding photographer, it was an amazing experience with amazing people, from the bottom of my heart thank you.
I could write way more about their incredible wedding, but for now here are some of my favourite moments from Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London.
