St Pancras Renaissance Hotel Jewish Wedding // Samantha & Jay

st pancras renaissance jewish wedding

The photos Rahul took of our wedding are amazing – there are so many of them, each beautiful. He’s truly an artist.

It’s hard to know where even to begin talking about Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding at the beautiful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London. It was my first time shooting a Jewish wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, and I hope it won’t be my last wedding there at this truly stunning hotel. The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel has become one of my favourite wedding venues in London, the gothic metal work, wall designs, the grand staircase (which the Spice Girls used for their ‘Wannabe’ music video) and gold leaf ceilings make this hotel ultra-glamorous and the perfect backdrop to Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding.

I started my day by heading to Sam’s room to capture her and her bridesmaids getting ready before heading one floor up to document Jay and his groomsmen preparing for the Tisch ceremony.

After the Tisch, it was on to the Bedeken, where Sam patiently waited for Jay to arrive to unveil her. This is the first time Sam and Jay would see each other with just their closest family around to witness this beautiful ceremony which was full of emotion. After the Bedeken, Jay made his entrance along with his parents into the Chuppah, just before Sam walked down the aisle with her parents beside her. After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the drinks reception whilst I stole Sam and Jay for a few moments to make some portraits around the wonderful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, before they made their grand entrance into their wedding reception.

What can I say about the reception, man alive it was an outright raucous reception. When you bring in one of the best band’s in London in my opinion The Function Band, you know things are going to get crazy and they absolutely did, in all the best ways. From the rowdy Israeli dancing, to the epic party it was just one of the best nights i’ve ever witnessed and had the pleasure to photograph. One of the highlights from their reception was Sam’s speech which was excellent, but Jay stole the night with his brilliantly hilarious and sentimental speech (sorry Sam!).

Sam found me through a Jewish wedding blog ’Smashing The Glass’ and i’m so glad she did. It was such an honour to shoot their wedding, an absolutely incredible day filled with love, happiness, laughter and pure honest moments. The night ended with Sam and Jay on stage, singing their hearts out, hands in the air – the perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you Sam and Jay for choosing me to be your wedding photographer, it was an amazing experience with amazing people, from the bottom of my heart thank you.

I could write way more about their incredible wedding, but for now here are some of my favourite moments from Sam and Jay’s Jewish wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London.

The iconic St. Pancras Renaissance hotel in London

The St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel originally opened in 1873 and is perfectly located in Kings Cross in the heart of London. It was originally known as the Midland Grand Hotel, but it was too costly to run, so it closed it s doors in 1935. T

The hotel then re-opened in 2011 after undergoing major redevelopment, and now has over 200 rooms plus amenities such as a casual eatery offering Victorian-inspired cocktails, an upscale deli, and a refined English restaurant, along with a warm pub, and a lounge serving afternoon tea. There’s also an indoor pool, a chic spa and a fitness centre. Making the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel one of the best 5 star hotels in the UK. The St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is renowned for its individuality, its the perfect wedding venue steeped in heritage, grandeur and history.

Situated in Kings Cross you only have to step outside the doors of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel to see the sights of London. The legendary Royal Opera House is a stones throw away, Regent’s canal is only a short walk or you could visit London’s trendy Granary Square or Coal Drops Yard shopping centre. There’s so much to do in London, that even your guests could make a weekend of it visiting in London, with so many attractions and sights for young and old nearby.

Natural wedding photography at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel

At your wedding at the luxurious St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel  I am always working, making sure I anticipate key moments that fleet by in an instant and of course being at the right place at the right time. I’m always searching for moments that happen between your family and friends, that may not be part of the ceremony trying to encapsulate and tell your wedding day story as a whole. I’m always trying to fill my camera frame with as much of your story as possible, not just honing in on the couple but including everyone else that was a part of the ceremony.

I love to document people, documenting honest and real reactions at your wedding at the grand St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel . I feel this is my legacy work and the best way to remember your loved ones and for future generations to understand who they were. Even though I try to blend into the background, I want to be around the action and where the moments are happening, so you will see my float around the wedding venue and get up amongst it with you and your guests. If I can feel the emotion then I know the photograph I am taking will convey that emotion too.

Emotion and moments aside, I am constantly searching for good light, most of my work is driven by light and interesting compositions. Little pockets of light that help to draw attention to the moment and let me play with shadows and highlights to get even more creative. Luxury and romance in the heart of London

Romance and elegance ooze throughout this spectacular wedding venue. The St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel offers a range of spaces for a variety of celebrations to suit your needs. The Hansom Hall and Terrace is an exquisite space which can hold unto 450 guests in a standing reception, and an equally charming space for a more intimate celebration is The Gallery. The hotel also offers a brilliant dedicated wedding team with impeccable service for planning your big day. They can assist you with everything you need from grand banquets to florists and more.

One of the main reasons many couples love the hotel is because of the chamber suites, its an ideal place for you to get ready in, with plenty of window light and space, which is a photographers dream.  The Grand Junior suites is ideal for newly married couples, where you can enjoy not only your luxurious room but also the Chambers Club too.

Finally, you’re also going to be in great company as the hotel has been used in plenty of tv and film. The music video for Spice Girls’ Wanna be was filmed in the hotel entrance and the grand staircase, Christopher Nolan used the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel for ‘Batman Begins’ and J K Rowling’s Harry Potter used the St. Pancras for its second instalment of the film.

As a wedding photographer the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is a dream location to shoot in. With its victorian beauty and architecture, elegance along with its historic design and location its the perfect backdrop for your fairytale wedding.
